Preparing to transition

Well, you have received your good news and you have indicated your intent to enroll (needless to say, smart move).

It is now time for you to wrap up your high school career and begin to think about how you want to transition into college.

Most of you I am sure are ready to take the next step, but some of you may be feeling a little uneasy.  It is fine to feel either way, but it is important to remember you are not out of the woods yet until you officially complete high school (and the final transcript is received).

While you ponder your last summer prior to college, I challenge you to do the following things:

(1) to have fun

(2)  to think about how you will make your splash at W&M

(3) to have fun

(4) to think about your academic passion

(5) to have fun

(6) to think about what activities you will lead, what sports you will play and what kinds of friends you will meet

(7) to have fun

(8) to think about your entry into W&M as an entrepreneur – take some risks (as long as they are legal) and move beyond your normal boundaries

(9) to have fun

(10) to think about your swagger and be proud and loud that you are joining one of the most elite communities that exists – chartered in 1693.

We all look forward to welcoming you in August.
