On to the Next One

We Admit It!  This time of year is a bit odd.  The campus is buzzing with activity, preparing to welcome the newest members of the Tribe on Friday.  Virtually every administrative and academic department is gearing up for the arrival of our new freshmen and transfer students, every office that is, except ours.  It’s kind of weird; our office worked hard for several years recruiting, reviewing and enrolling these incoming students.  And now as they finally arrive to take their place as part of the Tribe, we’re essentially not involved.  But that’s how it should be.  We will look towards the future of W&M and entrust its present to our colleagues.

Believe it or not, we’re already hard at work on crafting the Class of 2019 (and to some extent the Classes of 2020 and 2021).  And yes, this Friday we will take time out to walk around campus and observe and participate in the excitement (you can follow along with the Tagboard for #wmmovein).  These people who were previously just words on an application are now flesh and blood students who will impact and shape our campus for the next four years.  But then we’ll again turn our attention to the prospective students and families who are considering W&M as part of their future.  The Class of 2018 and the incoming transfer students are in good hands; the work we do over the course of the next year will ensure that the future of the Tribe looks just as bright.
