The Common Application is Live

We Admit It! It’s hard to believe that another application cycle, is upon us, at least technically speaking. Over the weekend, the 2015-2016 Common Application went live. W&M is an exclusive user of the Common Application (meaning the Common App is the only application you can use to apply to W&M). We do have Member Questions in addition to the Common Application and those are also live (the Common Application will direct you to them once you add W&M to the list of schools to which you plan on applying). Students applying for spring 2016 (transfers) and fall 2016 (freshman and transfers) can now complete and submit an application.

You are, of course, welcome to take your time. When you submit an application has no bearing on the decision we make (in fact, when reviewing your application we don’t even note the date your application was submitted). The only date that matters is the application deadline: November 1 for Early Decision and spring transfer admission, January 1 for Regular Decision and March 1 for fall transfer admission. Likewise, we will be taking a little bit of time before we actually begin processing applications. So, if you submit your application tomorrow, you will not hear from W&M until later this fall. Don’t worry, the Common App will keep your application safe until we are ready to download it.

Once we begin processing applications, we will provide a detailed blog about that process and what kind of notifications we send applicants when. What’s important to know, as of this moment, is that yes, you can submit an application anytime between now and the deadline. But no, we have not yet begun to process applications and won’t until later this fall.

Please let us know if you have any questions about applying to W&M. If you have any technical difficulty, you are encouraged to contact the Common Application directly. We look forward to working with all of the prospective students and families who plan on applying to W&M in the coming academic year.
